Liki Tiki Village has increased its green initiatives to
protect the environment through reducing waste, reusing, recycling,
and conserving. Those efforts have made Liki Tiki Village
eligible for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's
(DEP) Florida Green Lodging program, which designates lodging
facilities that commit to conserving and protecting Florida's
natural resources.
The guidelines of the program allow the hospitality industry to
evaluate operations, set goals, and take specific actions to
continuously improve environmental performance. Liki Tiki Village
and three of our other Orlando/Kissimmee area resorts, Barefoot'n
Resort, Orbit One Vacation Villas, and Parkway International
Resort have already received program accreditation. Our other
resorts are well into the application approval process.
The program includes water conservation measures through
low flow plumbing fixtures, a linen reuse program, and energy
efficiency achieved by installing ENERGY STAR® appliances, and
programmable thermostats. Waste reduction standards are
met by providing the opportunity to recycle, purchasing items in
bulk, purchasing recycled materials and by recycling ink, and toner
cartridges. All Green Lodging designated properties must also
use green cleaners and high efficiency air filters.
"The designation as members of the Florida Green Lodging Program
reaffirms everything that our resorts are about," said IORHG
President Sulyn Stumbras. "Our owners and guests can be proud
that their vacation home resort is managed with such attention to
preserving the planet, as well as conserving, and keeping annual
maintenance costs as low as possible for all our owners," she said.
"Our conservation efforts are evident in our resorts' measures to
reduce waste, and conserve resources through green initiatives
including eco-friendly cleaning supplies, energy efficient
appliances, low-impact landscaping chemicals, and expansive
recycling programs for everything from soda cans to old
appliances."
As Liki Tiki Village Kissimmee resort continues to seek better
ways to safeguard our environment please join us in our efforts to
preserve, protect, and conserve our natural resources.
